Marvel Comics is bringing back Mangaverse for its 25th anniversary. Readers can expect five brand-new special issues. Marvel Comics continues to experiment with alternate universes: previously, the publisher brought back the "What If…?" format, and then announced the Midnight horror imprint from contract creators. Now it's Mangaverse's turn, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The triumphant return of Marvel Mangaverse will occur this September with five one-shots, in which new versions of the heroes face a global threat in the form of the Phoenix.

DC is riding high again: Absolute Batman #20 has surpassed half a million copies in print.

About a year ago, the fourteenth issue of the Absolute Batman series garnered nearly 200,000 pre-orders in comic shops. Issue fifteen, which revealed the origin and terrifying appearance of the "Absolute" Joker, soared to nearly 300,000. And issue eighteen surpassed 330,000 orders. Many predicted that the figure would reach 500,000 by this year.
